All aspects of the 303 Artway Heritage trail have been co-created with community through the following processes: monthly engagement with the 303 Artway Steering Committee, which is made up of Northeast Park Hill residents and partner organizations such as the Pauline Robinson Library branch, the Park Hill Financial District, Trust for Public Land, Denver Street Partnership, and Urban Land Conservancy; ongoing engagement with the broader community through events such as the Park Hill Day of Legends, youth engagement workshops, Trunk or Treat, Bike to Work Day, and more. During these events, project partners facilitate opportunities for community input on key decisions regarding the trail including brand and concept design, trail location, selection of the places and people to highlight throughout the urban loop.

About our Partners

Radian is Colorado’s only nonprofit architecture and urban design group and has the mission to advance social equity in the built environment. Radian envisions a world where residents, who have been traditionally underrepresented in design and planning, have the agency, power, and resources they need to shape their own communities and neighborhoods. Radian partners with trusted community groups and leaders in neighborhoods that have been historically excluded in design and planning. Radian employs a design justice approach to architecture and planning that reimagines design as a tool to rectify historical disparities by centering the voices of those who are directly impacted by the outcomes of the design process, prioritizing design’s impact on the community over the intentions of the designer, and working towards sustainable, community-led and -controlled outcomes.
In Northeast Park Hill, Radian has acted as a key partner on the 303 ArtWay. Since 2016, Radian has facilitated community engagement, conducted key research on the project, and acted as the primary project manager to support community- identified priorities that determine the future of the neighborhood trail.

The Colorado Health Foundation (CHF) is a statewide philanthropic organization that champions the overall health and well-being of every Coloradan. We do this by advocating for and investing in solutions and policies that drive health equity and racial justice.
CHF’s mission is to improve the health of Coloradans. We believe that health and well-being can be in reach for everyone. So, every day, we collaborate with organizations and communities across the state to break down the many systemic inequities that stand in the way of health. When every Coloradan has the power to be healthy, our entire state is stronger.
In 2020 CHF awarded Radian a $25,000 Planning grant to continue community engagement and visioning for the Artway.
Continuing to support and advocate for the project, in 2024 CHF awarded Radian a $500,000 implementation grant to complete installation of Phase I of the 303 Artway.

Urban Land Conservancy (ULC) is a Denver-based 501(c)3 nonprofit. By engaging with communities and securing land for community benefit, ULC seeks to counter displacement caused by rising real estate costs and gentrification.
Over the years, ULC has invested in several properties in Northeast Park Hill including Holly Square (health clinic, youth center), and affordable housing at the 40th & Colorado transit station. The 303 Artway Heritage Trail was first conceived in 2014 as a result of ULC’s outreach to Northeast Park Hill neighbors, who expressed a desire for improved connectivity and a way to highlight, preserve and expand local culture and heritage.
As ideas for 303 Artway gained momentum, in 2015, ULC was awarded a $250,000 planning grant from ArtPlace America. This grant launched the conceptual design and community engagement for the future urban trail. That same year, ULC partnered with PlatteForum and Northeast Transportation Connections (NETC) to conduct early planning for the trail. ULC remains involved in the trail’s development via the 303 Artway steering committee.

The Denver Streets Partnership (DSP) is a coalition of community organizations advocating for people-friendly streets in Denver. DSP envisions an equitable and vibrant Denver where human dignity is the guiding principle for our transportation system and communities, with living, public spaces that allow everyone to thrive and connect to what matters most to them. They advocate for the cultural and systemic changes necessary to reduce Denver’s unsustainable dependence on cars and to design communities that put people first.
