Arts Activism Workshop

“Art as Activism: Harnessing Your Creative Narrative for Power” was a free workshop designed for youth and hosted at the Hiawatha Davis Jr. Rec Center in Northeast Park Hill in April 2023. The workshop was facilitated by local artist SPEAKS, and aimed to engage youth in the powerful intersection of arts activism and identity exploration.

The Chauncey Billups Community Mural Project

In September 2022, Radian co-hosted a Community Paint Day with Trust for Public Land and Park Hill Financial District to complete the first art installation along the 303 ArtWay Heritage Trail. This mural on the neighborhood’s basketball court, completed by artist Marley Boling, honors neighborhood heritage through colors and imagery that amplify community pride, celebrating NBA legend and Northeast Park Hill local, Chauncey Billups. The final design for the court was chosen by over 300 youth and families at the annual Park Hill Day of Legends event in August 2022. The installation of the mural at Skyland Park was funded by Arts & Venues through a P.S. You Are Here grant.

Jitterbug Intersection Mural

In June 2023 Jitterbug Art Studio completed a mural at the intersection of 33rd and Hudson in the Northeast Park Hill neighborhood. Decision-making on the project was determined through a community engagement process, during which residents and the ArtWay’s Steering Committee selected Jitterbug Artist Latasha Greene, and voted on the final design. The mural is strategically located along the neighborhood’s amenity-rich core, and is a featured location on the 303 ArtWay Trail.
